Hi guys as some of you are aware I am pretty wet behind the ears in terms of photography and I'm currently in the process of bulking up my kit bag ready for some weekends away shooting

as for hardware i'm aware that spare batteries, memory cards are all essentials then it got me thinking about the less obvious quirky things that people pack.

What are your kit bag essentials????

And two backpacks to carry it all in:eek:... lol...

I'm very light weight when I go out.
I have my Binoculars around my neck,
Canon 450D with my Canon 400mm L over my shoulder,
Couple of spare memory cards and spare Battery in my pocket.

Sometimes I'll take my tripod or my Tamron 90mm Macro or my Canon 18-55mm kit lens.

haha yer that the idea just in case like Thomas, all this goes in my Lowepro classified 200. bloody heavy though so i sort out lens according to my plans for the day

hamish that has pushed you up to a super geek status!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have just won a Kata DPS DR-467i rucksack on ebay the guys wife had got it him as a present but he cant fit his gear in it. he reassured me it has never been used. was i bargain at 45 quid inc p&p!!

Wow! Great buy dude! Now get filling it!!! Hahaha!! On the note of items that one carries, well, you seen my bag which is the lowepro slingshot 202aw, the oddities/extras are 4 LED torches, 2 head lamp LEDs (for my second head of course :S) 2 battery operated glow sticks, one green, one red, cleaning brushes and micro fibre cloth, tooth floss..... Yep. That's right, tooth floss. Very strong stuff! Hahnel wireless pro remote, poleriser filter, ND8 filter, grad ND, massa Grad red filter, a nuclear plant to power all torches...... okay batteries. And believe me folks, it sure takes a toll on my back. Hahaha!!

Essential extras:

hot-shoe mount spirit level - no wonky horizons for me now!
Circular Polarizer - great for colour saturation and removing reflections
Micro Fiber Cloth - lens cleaning
Sun Cream - never know when you might need it
Wet Wipes - to clean your hands after putting on sun cream!
Business card - people want you to email them pictures etc etc, have a card ready with contact details
Small Flashlight - had to actually use it once when the lighting in a tomb in the Valley Of The Kings failed - very dark!!
