I like the subject and your composition but I feel that the loss of detail in the shadows detract. Needs just a touch more exposure there.

This is better in my opinion giving more information to the viewer. I can see where Pete is coming from though with the loss of mystery which the deep shadows gave. Less is more sometimes?
