Winter Wonderland Walk

A slightly unusual composition but I liked the reflection of the tress in the river. I also liked the idea of having horizontal bands across the image with the verticals lines conflicting with them. This was taken at Anglesey Abbey in Cambridgeshire a couple of weeks ago. Freezing cold day and after 2 hours of walking we had truly had enough and went home or a cup of tea.

I do like this very much Paul. If you'd a mind to, you could also crop out the trees above and make it even more abstract but I guess you considered that.

Thanks Rob & Pete, I did think about cropping the top off a little more leaving just the bottom of the tree trunks and also cropping them out completely. Trouble is I like all variations and in the end as bad as it sounds I randomly chose this one.

Thanks guys. I must admit every now and again I get emails advising that people have updated there Flickr photostream and I often ignore it. I should pay more attention as not every shot on Flickr gets put on RPF and some are good. I probably dont see quite a few photographs that I should.

Allan, as this was taken without using a polarising filter the reflection of the trees in the water was a bit murky. I tried different cross processing effects until I found one that brought out the detail and applied a graduated filter with a blue tint to the bottom.

Seriously,...cool shot there, Paul. I think you could have cropped it umteen ways and had a fine image every one. This works well.

Great shot not been to Anglesey Abbey since I went with the school its a bit like the colleges in Cambridge I always meant to photograph them but photographing punting was more fun!! I just grew up to close to really appreciate them!!
