Finally bought the Godox AD180 bare bulb flash. Very impressed (coming from Sunpak 120J heads to this) so far. Bit of a question mark over the long term reliability, but perhaps I have been deceived by the Quantum marketing effort.
Didn't expect to use it on camera at all, but so far that's where it has stayed pretty much. Shot this one last night (flash off camera held by a helpful member of restaurant staff)
using a modified beauty dish as the diffuser. rest of the times it has stayed on camera (dish is just the right size so as not to interfere with lens, but big enough to soften the output considerably). shot all the Fashion Expo pix (another thread) on camera.
I expect I'll post a more detailed article on this Chinese wonder in due course.
