D800 & 16-35VR (@16mm) this time ...

The 16-35 is a great lens - sharp, reasonably compact, not ridiculously expensive and can take ND filters without paying an arm & a leg for the Lee adaptor for the 14-24 (which I used to have). The VR is handy too for interiors where you can't use a tripod.

Unless you shoot at f/2.8 all the time, the 16-35/4, 24-120/4 & 70-200/4 are a great kit for a D800 or D600. I have the 70-200/2.8, but if I were doing it over I would get the f/4 version for weight reasons.

I had the f/2.8 zooms (14-24, 24-70, 70-200) and swapped the UWA and normal zooms for the f/4 VR versions - no regrets.

Your contrails seem to complement your images, whereas mine just screw it up. What powers you have! Another beautiful image. Keith, I'm glad you made it here!

Far be it for me to defend contrails (the bane of landscape photographers), but sometimes you just have to embrace the enemy.

Actually, I think the operative concept is "better to be lucky than good" :D

I was thinking about the 21mm ZF, but decided to stick with the 16-35. The Zeiss is a great lens, though.
