I've been running a youth workshop over the last couple of weeks, I was asked if I could give guidance on the letters on the dial on the top of the camera......some brief heh?
So I began by introducing the concept of the relationship between shutter speed and aperture in order to get correct exposure when the ISO is variable.......... and the available light varies between bright daylight to dim artificial light.............hahaha................ Of course I didn't do that...
Actually we discussed taking photos using the various modes available on the cameras they owned or used. Shock horror I had to hold and tell the yoof what everything meant on a Canon...ffs........................I never go near those alien objects let alone know what all the dial fingy do......OK I'm joking.............slightly...............
Well, actually what we did was first to discuss how to set Manual mode and how to get correct exposure, then next we played with manual and some studio lighting, keeping it simple to one light and the effect of moving it to differing positions around the room, then we touched on Aperture Priority and last week Shutter Priority to capture moving subjects.
All in all the relatively small group are progressing well and are now starting to ask more questions and want to explore more, the reason I enjoy helping youngsters develop, I just wish I was better at doing it so they could learn more.
Anyway, I can't post their shots so these are a few of mine from the last session..
