Zenit E Film Loading

I have had loads of film cameras and never struggled to load a film... until today that is. My kids have bought me an old Russian Zenit E and I feel like an idiot because I can't get the film to take up on the spool. There is no slot in the spool and no clip in which to slide the film (the take up spool goes in the opposite direction to the film travel.) I am convinced that there is nothing missing from the spool judging by the photo of an identical camera of the internet. I am obviously missing something obvious but would welcome any advice/ideas!

Doh! Specsavers for me tomorrow. Just discovered a very fine slot on the spooler and loaded film fine My ego is intact. Out of date film so time for some Lomography.

Can't believe the flash gun that came with this camera. A big grey Russian item that has to be plugged into the mains electricity; they just don't make 'em like that today
