This is my first go at a panorama. It's taken at sunset in Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada on July 13, 2014. I think this was a good location to try a panorama.
The bear was about 50 feet off the trail & my wife was behind me with 2 cans of bear spray. The car was maybe 1/4 of mile away. There were some other hikers on the same trail just ahead of us & I think they managed to walk pass without noticing it. The bear was eating the grass, it looked up &...
I took this shot of a large male elk en-route to Peyto Lake in Banff National Park on June 18, 2014. With its mouth open, it looks like its talking but its actually bugling (which is a cross between screeching and whistling).
Seen on Monday lunchtime in Calgary. I checked out what type it is ....... no not it's not called spotted or pied ...... it's a Hairy Woodpecker ........ unbelievable !!! Of course I had the wrong lens with me (15-85 mm), so I almost needed to climb the tree to get close to it.
These 2 shots are of the Peace Bridge (which crosses the Bow River to downtown Calgary) taken on Monday. We've had almost 2 weeks of minus 20 to 30 C weather (minus 35 with wind chill) and a crud load of snow. Tuesday was only minus 15 C so I ventured outside for a few a shots.
A white tailed deer I saw in Fish Creek Park, Calgary. It took some time to slowly move in & get close enough for the shot. The light was fading & not the best.
