I "personally" am a Nikon fan, there is no real reason for it apart from the fact the I like the way it sits in my hand; I like the weight of the d90(with the MB-d80 Battery grip) and I know my way around the cameras firmware with proficiency. That said; a Canon user will tell you the exact same thing...the most important thing about buying Canon or Nikon is to try them both out thouroughly. Spend as much time as you can with the body you are considering buying (Canon 550D/Nikon D90) and draw your own conclusions from your experience with them both.
When I have a canon back in store, I will let you know, and you can come in a use them both; see which one graps your interest
Like I said, I will tell you to buy Nikon, and Jessops will tell you to buy Canon; you will end up so confused that you won't know what to buy!!! lol
