Suffering from bad cold...lack of good sleep. These days happen.

Well, that cheered you up a treat! I prefer the second shot as the sharp background vs your movement is less pronounced. Can you use a larger aperture and less light to throw the background out of focus more?

I could do, and should have. But the above knackered me for the day. Had to cancel two students, and when I do that I lose money. Self employment, eh?

Interesting portraits Rob - they allow the viewer to feel your stuffy head cold I think

I like the contrast on #1 between the sharp stationary background, and your (slightly) moving head

Which lens did you get?

Well, I plan to buy one lens a year forthe next ten years But I just started with the 18-55, as that will cover a lot of ground while I'm saving my pennies. I almost got the 35mm prime, and would have been happier with either. The 18-55 will keep me happy for a while, I'm sure. It should arrive tomorrow!
