The bricks in the centre of the second image look like they are coming apart from each other. The monochrome here adds to the decay and inevitability, somehow. Resignation is in the air.

Resignation, yes that is a good description. It felt much more still and 'over' within the complex rather than embattled from the outside. I wanted to keep the tones similar between leaf and brick to emphasise who had won.

And, looking again at the second image, you are right. The leaves start to seem more substantial than the walls.
