A few more from Sydney

Jim Kuo

The man in the hat
These are a few more pictures, which I find pleasing, taken in our recent trip. I hope some of you will find them interesting, too.

#1, foggy day at Blue Mountain. I like this one because it looks a little like a Chinese brush painting to me.

#2, ignoring the official advice at Manly Beach.

#3, getting very close to a Koala at Featherdale Wildlife Park :).

#4, animals in the park are fairly familiar with human contact, this one climbed onto the kid on its own account.

#6, getting close to a dugong in Sydney Aquarium.

Thanks for looking.

Jim

Foggy Day is a lovely shot, Jim.

In 2, is that a shark in the water? (If you don't know I'll ask Pete. ;))

In 6, what's a dugong. Never heard of such a thing. (Looks like a gigantical German sausage with an eyeball.:D)

More super shots again Jim. I see what you mean about the first shot - I do like the composition you've used there.

Actually Brian I think you'll find it is actually a 15 year old kid with flippers and a snorkle and a triangle of black plastic strapped to his back with bungee cords (stolen the pervious week during a trip to Cairns). Seems to be working though!! ).

And that first Koala is certainly dead cute - do they smell as bad as they are supposed to?

That lizard certainly looks pretty miserable, or at least grumpy. Now why am I thinking Amish here?!! ;)

Not so much sausage as Dr Zoidberg I'd say. You can always nip over to Florida and go Manatee spotting Brian - closely related. And I really like the reflection of the boy's face you have captured in that shot Jim. Who is watching who?

I don't think I smelled anything odd, animal welfare is a serious issue in Australia, those animals are very well kept.

We were able to pet and get really close to the koalas, Priya was able to do the rabbit ears that appear in the first koala shot :).

Thanks Brian, this is dugong Dugong - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, I think your description of it is not wrong :D.

I think the black dots in #2 are surfers, however, you raised an interesting point, why was the beach closed?

Manly Beach is quite long. In Australia you are requested to swim between the 'flags' (flag on a pole positioned approx 100 metres apart) which is supposed to be the safest area to swim and it is where the beach patrols are stationed. In this photograph, it would appear the area is unsafe for swimmers (probably a strong rip) but not for board riders. I was in Manly at the weekend, lovely spot.

Nice set of pics.

Thanks Darren, I love Sydney, too. I should go back more often, but it's a looooonnnngg flight from London...
