Critique Welcomed A Trip To Hastings

I would like to share a few shots taken in Hastings (England) whilst on a relaxing break over the May bank holiday weekend. Contrary to common belief not all Bank holidays in the United Kingdom are dull rainy affairs. Anyway, here we go:

All the photos were captured with the Fuji X100. An Indian Jones style camera.

Without boring your eyeballs to death I have limited the number of photos posted. I don't get to take many photos usually, beyond the iPhone, so I welcome any criticism and areas of improvement you could suggest.

Thanks for viewing!

Chris.

Welcome to RPF Chris. And what an entrance! A super set and I like the way you have processed / captured them - the colours and tones suit well I think. Love the boats and the beach but then I am biased as I lived near there for many years (Bexhill).

Looking forward to when you find time to share some more! :)

Thank you Pete for your kind words!

Glad you enjoyed viewing the photos. The lighting on the boats was particularly good and one of my personal favourites too.

I'll be sure to share more in the future,

Chris.

A very good selection Chris. I particularly like the 2nd, 3rd and fourth composition wise. The shot of the houses and distant view is very good but maybe that selection of sticks and wood in the foreground would have been better left inside the house;).
Welcome on board and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work already.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

I agree, the street clutter could be best hidden somewhere round back but each to their own :)

Thanks again,

Chris.

Well now Chris...as I sit at the local pub on a misty day here in Boston...I admire your ability to photoshop blue sky there. ;):D
Nice work!

Eh up Chris - welcome!

X100 shots looking good - especially beach and boats - very tasty

Can't believe the sun shone though - must be a photoshop job as Glenn said :D

Hi Chris. What a great way to announce your presence. Very nice shots, and I agree with you that boats one is the best. Never been to Hastings, but it looks worth battling over.

Thanks! I can't believe you don't have the Southern Sun button in your version of Photoshop?

In all seriousness God was very generous with the sunshine over the weekend and has more than made up for balancing the elements with some miserable weather ever since.

Chris.

Thank you. Yes Hastings has lots to offer any budding photographer. Plenty to see and do. Unfortunately the coastline is eroding away so if you plan a visit make it soon.

Chris.

A Trip to Hastings - Part 2

Here are a few more shots from my trip to Hastings. A directors cut. Possibly not as exciting but maybe worth sharing and critiquing on. Hastings provided a wide verity of photography possibilities, here are a few more:

Seagul.jpg
Seagull in Flight.

Railings.jpg
Waters Edge.

Bodium.jpg
Bodiam Castle.

Watering-Can.jpg
Watering Can.

Meringue.jpg
Meringue. (From Bakery, yummy) - Macro.

Please offer any critique you can think of. Framing, composition, colour, tone etc. as it will really help in future attempts at taking pictures.

Thanks for looking!

Chris.

Welcome Chris. A fine set. Love the 'beach' and the watering can in particular .

Thank you. The Watering Can I thought worked nicely with the horizontal materials and the overall colour tone aided by the late afternoon sun light. Didn't even adjust the position of the can. Just lazy point and shoot.

Chris.

Another good bunch of images Chris. I agree with Brian about the gull image. Very nice shapes and balance between land, sea and sky. Like how the wing clips the horizon.
The shot of the pier is really good too with that nice triangle of people on the path.
