A visit to the refuge

your local refuge looks a little less frozen than mine.
Well, you guys on the east coast have been clobbered with cold. I don't believe that we've yet had a hard freeze. It was 51 degrees here yesterday.

It takes me about an hour to get from my place east of Portland to Ridgefield north of Portland.

The refuge has two "units" and the one that I usually go to is called the "River Unit". It has a driving loop and visitors are asked to stay in their vehicles. There are a few trails that open seasonally. What this means is that most of my shots are out of my car windows looking down or looking up. Besides an abundance of birds and water fowl there are also coyote and deer. I mostly ignore the four legged critters in favor of the birds of prey. I'm not well versed with the various ducks that seasonally visit.
