Abandoned

Sadly, the parents abandoned this nest in a box in the garden of some friends. The perfection of its construction is amazing.

What a shame. Nests are amazing, aren't they? Astonishing. Nice picture too. I think the sombre tones work really well, and the abstract shapes, mottled/speckled like the eggs.

Great shot Pete. The textures across the whole shot pulls it all together. Birds are fascinating. It's a wonder that there are so many left after so many failures. A testament to Persistence Overcomes Resistance.

These constructions always amazing and we have learnt so much from such observations. If this is a recent photo it may well be the second batch of eggs, even with the summer being a bit late. the first egg laying and young are well into there adult feathers by this time. A generalisation.

Nice pic, Pete and looks great in B+W.
