Critique Welcomed Across the prairie

Almost abstract!

Not sure if I like the colour contrast between fore- and background... Certainly opposite colours, but a bit too much perhaps?

That city seems so very far away.... The plain looks endless....

I do not disagree actually, but the colourcast at the time was extraordinarily strange, And I wondered why at the time. The sun was shining on the prairie / plains and a bit on ( I think a suburb to Salt Lake city ) while the backdrop mountains were in shades but still at a very cool temperature. At least that's the explanation I received. This is quite high above sea level, approximately 1300 meters. Mountain tops are much, much higher. It was like a mirage as the prairie was very hot in late august / early september.

If that is Salt Lake City in the background (it looks like it), then the prairie is the salt marsh of the Great Salt Lake. Then I can understand the color differences between the foreground and the mountains.
Thank you John you are right. It is so nice when people understand my struggle:) And I should possibly have said that the foreground was the salt lake, seen from Antilope island. I particularly like it also to the fact that is a rare image as far as I know, done from that angle.
