Advice needed

The friends whose wedding we are going to on the 3rd December has just been around in tears the photographer they booked phoned yesterday to say he has broken his leg so will not be able to attend they have tried to get another photographer with no luck. So I have been asked if I can do it I have warned them they might not be as professional looking as a paid photographer but she said better that than losing all the money they would lose for cancelling. I think I have 4 options with equipment
1) (this is the one I think I will go with) Use the F3 for formal shots ect and take some with the bridge digital to capture the rest of the day then scan in the film shots to get them all digitized
2) use the F3 all day
3) just use the bridge camera

Now off to read hamish's guide to wedding photography

Can you borrow or hire a DSLR?
The f3 will obviously do a good job, but its hard to check for blinking in photos with film...
People dont expect to see blinking in wedding shots these days...
Just a thought

The bridge will possibly do you, especially if you are used to its limitations...

Alternatively, they could hire one of the wedding photographers off the forum ... just an idea if my guide scares you off doing it :)
I'm quite expensive... but Dan Catermole also does a bit of wedding photography and is possibly more affordable than me ... ????
That last sentence was hard to write without it sounding offensive to a few people ... its not meant to ...

The equipment problem is organised as a friend has just bought a new d700 and is lending me his old d300 with a few lenses also Saturday I am going with him to do a wedding (with him using the d700 and me the d300) as for the actual photography part I'm not that concerned about doing it. as for your guide some great hints Hamish thank you (we had already tried to book my mate and it was his idea me using his old equipment to do it myself)

Well the wedding today went even better than I could have hoped (at home till 7 as a slight break in day now) just put the 150 shots I took today through LR I thought I would have had more problems using the DSLR than I did

Excellent Dave - sounds like a job well done! :)
