After The Rain

Beautiful colours, very interesting landscape which is like a tapestry with a solid foreground. And of course it hits me with its colours. Wonder if I'll come across something like it on my tour to the south-west of England next week. By the way Nick, would your 18 be as good as 18 on the 18-55? I just wonder.

Thanks Ivar, I'm sure your eye will find something interesting to shoot, pity your not near the midlands as you would be more than welcome to stay. You would love the Peak District.

The 18mm is a very underrated lens I've always found it to be damn good and at 28mm with the crop factor, ideally suited for most subjects. I shot a few weddings with this and the 35 1.4 and it produces very nice images.

Nice shot Nick. Did you output RAW or jpg only with the XT1?
Hi Aldous
JPEG capture, I shoot that way most of the time, I did a comparison of the shooting raw, wrote a blog piece about it. Conclusion was that if you expose correctly then there is little in it between the two. I felt the raw file a little smoother, but print wise very hard to tell.

Thanks a lot for the reply and the offer in it. I am contemplating on buying an 18mm. No hurry for the xt1 yet. Been to the Midlands last october and the peak district. Drove from Manchester to York and all the way through Sheffield, to Derby down to London, but alas more or less in a hurry. And some years ago we were to the lake district also. Back in the slide film era. Now London and Cornwall is the target next week. But we liked the scenery and we shall be back. Thanks a gain mate.

Well let me know when, and we can get out amongst this lovely landscape.
