I recently spent a week at the WesTex Star Party near Fort Davis, Texas and managed to find a handful of landscape images while there and en route home.
Big sky over Casket Mountain
While not Everest, Casket Mountain is no small hill. But it pales in comparison to this sky. (Fort Davis, TX)
Cottonwoods and hoodoos
Follow the water and you'll find the cottonwood trees. Water is to their color what electricity is to a light bulb. Their beautiful bright green leaves always stand out in stark contrast to the arid countryside. "Hoodoos" are the vertical extrusions of igneous rock pushed up through perforated strata to form the cliff face. (Fort Davis, TX)
Fingers in the dark
A nearly clear dawn sky reflects off the Llano River at the Old Simonsville Road crossing. (Mason, TX)
Floating rocks?
In the still dawn air, the rocks appear to float on the sunlit water. (Mason, TX)
