What a lovely shot Sir!
Vintage, atmospheric and the menacing clouds above the majestic dock buildings serve to remind the keen follower of history that this was once a hive of industrial activity and a major hub in the import/export of a multitude of cargoes to include slaves and the cotton they would eventually pick in the New World.
Particularly interesting for me and my wife as her Great Grandfather was a Cooper, or barrel maker, in the building to the right of your photo and her other Great Grandfather was a Carter in Liverpool. A statue of a Carters horse has been recently erected as you enter the dock from the Three Graces and is just in front of the propeller off the ill-fated Lusitania.
Lovely, evocative photo for which I am supremely unqualified to critique but ably equipped to enjoy and ponder on.
(PS. The blacks could have been a teeny weeny bit blacker!)
