Still nice though Vic. Maybe a tiny bit soft on the eyes but it is a fashion shot after all and it lends a slightly dreamy look to Alix. A really period looking outfit and I love the wires behind her. Is there a tiny bit of Moire pattern in the hounds-tooth of her trousers? A spot of blur would zap it if there is (I'm being really picky now aren't I!!).

your right I think there is and here face is a little soft, but I liked that in a way. I think I went a bit heavy on the border too. I spent most of Sunday trying to work out how to get the effect I want for a border. in the end I gave up and will have to put my had in my pocket!

I've not had much luck with border software and usually use a 10 - 15 pixel increase in canvas size in PS using a colour based on the darkest tone in the image. I quite like them slightly blurred though so I either use a blur layer and then paint back the image except near the border or do the canvas size before applying a glow effect using Nik ColorFX.

I made a simple action for a 10 pixel border, that I run as many times as required to get the border thickness that I want. Also a action that allows me to pick the colour required, but this is the effect I'm after (first photo) http://www.realphotographersforum.com/threads/886-Candid-photos-capture-music-greats .

Funny enough, my friend in the states is good friends with Danny Clinch, so I should just get him to ask him.

Thanks Paul I shall give that a good read I have a feeling I might be doing a few more of these.

I like what you have done there Pete. I'll have to find away to get another 30 days free trial:)

I see. There are a few systems out there that deliver these type of borders (the big one is OnOne) but find them a bit repetitive and then they don't look real any more. I've been tempted to make some of my own by scanning LF film. Nik has a few in SilverFX but I haven't really played with them properly - I should though.

I've tried all sorts of things but it's never what I want. I do have some film textures that I could possibly get to work, for me the challenge is working out how to do it. There's an action pack from a little photo shop that looks like it could be what I'm after. Once I work out how they do it I can make my own. Well that's my thinking anyway.

Vic - I really like the pose and the PP.

I'm a sucker for the pointy toes, knocked-knee look - no idea why, but I guess it's hardwired in the human brain somehow.

Very very nice all around.

As for borders - I just up the canvas size to suit, and select black, white, or a tone from the image.

I've only started doing it recently because of you guys - I felt inadequate with my naked, borderless images! LOL

Yea, I really like it too!
Wish id had a look at this on my good screen now, the laptop pushes the light in her hands too much, but i know it would look better on a better screen!

Thanks chaps,

Chris I'll keep that in mind for next time!
