I shot this a week or so ago on a morning walk along the Charles River here in Boston...which is very different in the winter than during the summer. It was pretty dark...so I tried a little HDR using 3 shots. Too dark?

That looks pretty good to me and the darker tone to the image seems to suit it. What software do you use Glen, LR, PS ? I could be wrong but there seems to be a little bit of CA along the back and side of the boat, seems to be mainly purple fringing?

Paul...I use PS...but I am far from knowledgable. In fact...I don't know what CA is. :o So I just blew up the original...there is a purple line all the way around the boat just below the top rail.

Thanks everyone...opinions from photographers mean something to me.

Chromatic Aberration or fringing. It is caused by the lenses inability to refract all frequencies of light by the same amount so you get an effect similar to a prism separating white light into its individual wavelengths. All lenses have it to one degree or another and the issue is exasperated in bright conditions. Do you use Adobe Raw? I think it has CA removal features. If you Google "ca removal in photoshop" there are a few tutorials and tips to be had.

That is a lovely tight comp Glenn

I'd have been trying to get the whole thing in with a wide, and would have missed the shot
