What a super portrait, Rense. That lighting is superb and I do like portraits where the subject is looking out of the frame. She seems not to be so keen in the second. Skunk Funk?
Thank you, Pete! She's my favourite niece, the daughter of my wife's brother. Since she was two we sort of stick together, in a weird way we understand each-other. However, now that she's almost 14, she's not that happy to be photographed anymore as she was, and she hates it when she has to smile on command. Well, I hate that sort of 'fake' portraits too.... Nevertheless, in the second one she had enough of it, and after I shot it, we stopped with the shoot. I like it somehow, because it's a typical slice of time.... She's changing, becoming her self.
Oh, and the light! It's in the attic of the 1880 farm of my parents in law, with a small window just in the upper left corner. I was testing the lightning here for a photo shoot later that day with AM and her brother and two sisters...
