Critique Welcomed Amusements in North Wales

Fairbourne looking a bit packed Hamish! :D

Next to the Arousal is the Relax? Now I understand the man reading the window instructions.

Nice shots Hamish.

Cheers Glenn

A slice of typical British sea side, I like it. I hope you got the woman in the cafe to wash her hands before she made you ham roll. God only knows what she was doing before.

Extra salt?

It was nice though ... I can do without other people

I think the chap is reading a poster about a dog show at the lifeboat station held on Saturday. I managed to miss all the excitement :) but did visit an excellent garden laid out by the same guy who did Port Meirion (where the Prisoner was filmed for TV).

I hope posting an image in someone's thread isn't bad form.

Mike

Makes you wonder what the picture is the fellow is looking at.

Do you like the Portra 160, Hamish?

I do! Although its testiment to 400 that there is little increase in grain. I can see why folks don't see much point in 160 in that regard, but for use with cameras with top shutter speeds of 500th like some of my compacts it proved useful.
I love the colour from it ...

Post away ... I don't think folk here mind ... I certainly don't!

We go to Barmouth quite often. The town is nice enough but the countryside around and about is wonderful. It hardly matters which road you take into the hills there's something of interest. Port Meirion needs sunshine then it's wonderful and can be quite cheap in the Winter with various offers for entry - down to a couple of quid sometimes. I love the waterfalls and water rushes but have yet to get anything good from the various worked out quarries.

Love the overall quality of these images. The colours and tones are some of the best I have seen. I do not have the knowledge of colour film that most here do, yet have recognition just how that knowledge is so useful for differing subject matter getting across mood and other subtleties.

A real nostalgic trip to a seaside town, well captured Hamish

Looking at the second one when I first opened it, it instantly reminded me of your photography. The higher mid tones, slightly low saturation and maybe slightly dull but dark lower tones (if that makes sense).

Maybe you should give a roll of portra a go?
