An Unpleasant Moment

The guy in the white is having a go at the other guy. He's angry about something and he's letting the other bloke have it! This is in the entryway of the public library in Riverside, California. I didn't stick around long because I sensed the altercation may escalate and I saw no point to being involved in any way.

Not sure if these folks are homeless or just hang out here for the shade.

LOL.

I did stick around Allan; but from a safe distance. I can reach pretty far with that Tamron 180-270. Unfortunately nothing developed!

Truth is,...I wasn't feeling well. Honest. I left home with the 7d because there was an event for my daughter's sorority. I figured I better take the big digicam so I could upload foties quick. However, I felt particularly ill at ease withoot a film camera so I took my Oly XA with me too. Nevertheless, no sooner had I hit the road than I felt quite disappointed I hadn't brought my Canon F1. Yeah,...I wasn't feeling OK.

Depends on where you go, Hamish. City center areas tend to have an abundance. Although, the people in the image above appeared too clean to be homeless. Perhaps they were from from some kind of "halfway" house or low-income subsidized housing. Why they were all hanging out on the steps of the public library I do not know. (I didn't see any books in their hands.)

Perhaps you saw some of my images from Venice Beach? Lots of homeless live in that area.

Good timing on the capture - I can see why getting involved might be a bad idea!

Folk do hang out a lot in Riverside - I noticed it in the square by the Police HQ as well - maybe it's the free wifi!

I think you might have misread the situation entirely Brian. It is quite clear to me that the guy with the vest on is just sick of telling the other guy that he should lubricate his chain more often and that he is not prepared to keep him as a customer at the ride-by, outside-the-library, cycle service company unless he starts taking a bit more responsibility himself! My sympathies are with him entirely!
