Anaheim Bay

Took the 7D and the Tokina 11-16 for a walk this morning. Then came home and played with PS. The original images were dull and flat. Hopefully I got something worth looking at after pp in PS, about which I know next-to-nothing. I believe Photobucket, my intermediary for posting to RPF, desaturized these images a little. I've put them on Flickr, too, which I've linked below. If you feel inclined perhaps you could take a look at the Flickr ones also and let me know if you think they look different. Thanks.

Ah - I've had that white screen thing for a couple of days. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. I asked Hamish if there was something wrong, but he said it must be my computer. Looks like it might not be.

On to your foties, Brian. I like the shots and the pp - the subtle tones are very nice, and the set has uniformity, which is good. Some great detail in the water. I see nothing wrong with adding a bit of pp to film images. It's not against the law. And what comes out of the camera is no more real. Great stuff!

They definitely have a it more punch and overall contrast on Flickr than when linked from Photobucket. I've noticed this myself and then to do a last-minute curves adjustment before uploading to compensate. It didn't always used to be like that though but I can't be bothered to change.

I like the images though and the sky in the first works very well I think. I really like the tones, with their extra warmth, in the others and the wet boardwalk shot really is super. I love the radiating diagonals and the light on the buildings.

I tried uploading twice--all three images at once. White screen both times. Then I tried one at a time,...and it loaded. I was thinking it was due to image size maybe?

Anyway, to the foties. Thanks Rob. These are digital, by the way. Nevertheless,...thanks for the comments Rob. Much appreciated.

Much obliged, Pete. It really is remarkable how much post-fotie control you have with RAW captures. Thanks again, Pete.

I really the the way that the image in number 2 is split by the white line of the edge and the flagpole? Nice light and tones as well. I like the dramatic clouds and the tones on the bottom half of the first. TBH I'm not too sure about the purple / mauve tint in the clouds.

Thanks for your comments, Paul. Good observation about the tint in the clouds. I was trying to eliminate a diabolical green tint that had infiltrated the right and left top corners. I was unsuccessful. But my attempt is what rendered the cloud color you see. Thanks again, Paul!

flickr looks better. sharper and more saturated. love the comp. in the third one..er...second one of flickr.

Thanks a lot, Beth. Much appreciated.

Hi Brian,

On my PC the FLIKR images look a lot better in both contrast and saturation. Are you able to change settings within Photobucket to prevent it from doing anything to the images?

I like number 2, there is a faint glimmer of hope in that grey sky!

Hi Milan,...thanks for your comments. I haven't tried changing anything once I upload to P-bucket. However, they do have some kind of rudimentary post processing software. I'll take a look at it. Thanks again Milan. Much appreciated.

They look a lot better on Flickr Brian might it be worth tryig to link them from there instead

Thanks Dave. I used to link from Flickr. But I don't have a "Pro" account. (Don't see the use of paying for that really.) Thus, I'm limited to 200 images. So what I do is, from time-to-time I purge a few. When I did that before the ones that had been uploaded to RPF through Flickr went away. That's why I use P-bucket.

Must admit I always forget about having to pay for a pro account on flickr as I dont have to pay for my 2 one I use as a Storage account for everything and one I use for other stuff as its included with our broadband

I just had to sit down and finish a rather nice glass of red Brian!

Digital and post processing!!! :D

Sky looking good - did you shoot RAW and import using ACR?

There's a lovely grad filter you can deploy in ACR to adjust clouds - worth a play if you haven't already

The weather has been pants this weekend - although we got a hour of sunshine at the end of he day down my way

I've been trying to test a new (to me) Rollei 35 with some TMAX - so while you've gone all 21stC digital, I've gone all 60s and analog - but the weather hasn't helped.

Circle of life and all that...

Hope you enjoyed the red, Chris. (Happy to oblige!:))

I imported using Adobe Bridge. ACR,...uhmm, I've heard or read those initials before, but I'm not sure if I used it or not.

By the way, it wasn't all futurama stuff for me. I had the old C33 out for a walk as well, and I deved a couple of rolls in coffee this afternoon. Unfortunately, one of the rolls was an expired TMAX 100 (exp. in 2004) and the negs look painfully thin.

Looking forward to seeing your Rollei stuff.

Me too - a dozen shots to take before I can get it developed :(

Tried to find XP2 today locally - no joy

Just ordered some from Amazon - so should be here Tue :)

Flickr doesnt delete you when you go over 200 they just dont show in your photostream anymore so you dont need to delete them and you can still access them from other parts of the site (I know people who
