ANCHORED IN THE BAY

Now that is rather special, Julian. As John says, what great lighting, and then there's your trademark tones. :)
Thanks Pete, the setting sun. I am starting to get out more at the end of the day again , rather than the middle, which makes as we all know, for better, more often, dramatic light.

Red sails in the sunset...cue song and film. Very nice, Mr de'Courcy. You could maybe sink the wee boat on the right...maybe not?

Thank you and Noooooooooooo . Not at all superstitious, but would feel wrong.
A Mevagissey boat went down at the beginning of the week and spent 36 hours on the rocks, with only the upper wheel house showing at high water. The local fishermen managed to put it along side a larger vessel at high water and they got it home onto Frazier's slip where it lies now. It is the boat shown here in the past with the fox carved on the front. The skipper was ok, but sadly last week two crew are missing and have been for over a week from a Plymouth scalloper. A young local man was lost from Mevagissey three years ago, sadly it is an industry in which things happen at times for the worst.

I did though like the little white boat, they have a pole on each side which hold heavy lead weights and lines with spinners on, their is also a line run out from the centre of the stern. The poles keep the fishing lines separated and are pulled in alternatively as they catch the mackerel . Plummeting is mainly done at sun rise and late evening when the fish feed the most and when the Mackerel stop being caught so easily on feathers. This is done by the smaller inshore boats.

I can only say as all the others, a fine image and it pays to get out there a little later after a good rest. A siesta is not so dumb to do in the middle of the day, for anyone. Colourful it is too. I am sorry to hear or rather get to know about the diaster of the crew. It is a tough profession I am afraid. :(
