Another autumnal offering

I make no apologies for some more seasonal shots. These where taken on the same occasion as my gardener shot and again in Kensal Green Cemetery. Autumn and cemeteries always seem to go well together in my opinion. Or perhaps that's my sense of morbidity at the closing of another year.

As the cemetery borders the Grand Union Canal which loops round North London we continued our walk to stroll along it until the light started to fail. The low sun was picking out the frontage of this derelict building so I switched the 5D MkII to monochrome for a final shot. As there are posters mentioning Oktoberfest and Halloween it seems appropriate to include it.

Quite interesting set. To my eyes the first one is the most outstanding.

Great set of shots Peter. The inscriptions are so interesting to read. It seems even in death there used to be more heartfelt emotion shown. I think that's one of the things that drives me to produce something of purpose that will live beyond my life here.

This shot seems to beckon me to step forward and enter another realm. Beautiful!

I was about to comment on the tones and your superior skills on exposure and process ... but all your images are professionally exposed, processed and framed. The shot of the Birch branches and the crooked headstone is the perfect example of cemetery overgrowth (your theme). Well done Peter Roberts!

PS- The inclusion of the gardener in the setup shot provides a scale of man versus man's tribute to death.

Thanks so much, Bill.
I find cemeteries places of never ending interest. Contact with the past, serenity in an increasingly dystopian world, somewhere to contemplate the changing of the seasons; that's all there and more. As you rightly say, another realm.

Thanks, Gary. That's much appreciated. I'm really pleased that 'The gardener' worked for you. Luckily she was taking her time so I was able to frame everything just right to get in all that I wanted to express.
