Another Badger

Lesley Jones

Otherwise know as Zooey
Or rather, another photograph of the same badger. He's still coming round before the others. The conditions weren't perfect for this and he settled down in front of the old ferret run, but as not many people get to photograph one from less than five feet, here he is again! :)

I can't think of enough superlatives for this one. This is an incredible photograph. Why do they kill them? Probably a dumb question.

Lovely Lesley. And they do always look so professorial to me. :)

Badgers do look professional don't they - must be the black and white markings :D

Bovine TB Steve. They are carriers, but so are deer and a host of other animals. At the moment there is only a test cull in two counties, but that has nothing to do with checking that the numbers of cattle destroyed are coming down, just that they can meet the requirements to kill a certain percentage in a window of six weeks. And that they can kill "humanely", whatever that means.

We're lucky here in that there are no cattle, so our badgers are safe...
