another one of those nights.

not long after arriving at work last night i predicted it was going to be one of those nights. it was. [doh]

we were fairly busy with some small items all night long. but then, a little after 2 am, we started hearing rumors of a truck fire on the interstate. we found it on the traffic camera and started dispatching crews. usually this is a 1 or two lane closure, over and done with in an hour. by 6 am the truck was still mostly engulfed. when i say mostly, i mean what little was left of the truck was engulfed. it was carrying cardboard boxes full of what we were told was orange juice concentrate. and nobody bothered to bring vodka.

here's a link to the news story, and more interestingly, the photo gallery. for once, some of them are pretty cool, between the pink and blue back lighting and the foam on the ground it looks like a nuclear wasteland.. my favorite is the first, the deldot front end loader removing burning debris from the truck so the firemen could get inside of the cargo to put out more of the fire.
