Anyone got an Eye-fi card?

Hi all,

I am just wondering if anyone here had used/know anyone who uses an Eye-fi card - basically an SD card with wireless abilities so that it can download images off the camera when in range of the designated wireless point.

It seems to make sense and you don't have to faff around with lots of wires to get the images off, however they aren't amazingly cheap compared to the size of a standard SD card.

I am just wondering what peoples opinions are of them.

David,
I use one...Pro/X2 8GB...for my G12...it works fine. When I get home it downloads before I get ready to get on the computer. I don't use the G12 all that much...but I have had no problems so far.

Cool, I might look into getting one at some point then, I guess I can link it to something like drop box and it just sends it there when I get in. I would be shooting RAW so it might take a bit of time for them to send!

Also, can you wirelessly access the card or is it just 1 way? Any affect on the battery life at all?

I don't think you can...but I never tried. I just let it download...and start playing with the pics.

i have no idea about battery life. All I've ever used is the Eye-Fi card...and battery life is never a problem for me.

never used one but i remember a story from a few years ago where someone had their camera stolen. a few days later they started getting photos on their computer, including some the thieves had taken of themselves.. it didn't take too long after that to get the camera recovered.
