Critique Welcomed Arboreal Studies in Winter - No. XX

I've started a series which I call Arboreal Studies in Winter. I haven't decided whether to include this one, mainly because the right side of the tree is outside of the frame. (I was shooting with a prime lens and backing up to get the whole tree would have included other things I didn't want in the picture--people mainly!) However, despite that there is something interesting to me about this image.

Infrared with Sigma SD Quattro, Sigma 30/1.4 and Hoya R72 filter.

I can see why. I think it is the flow that is so compelling.

That is beautiful. Capures the structure of the tree very well, can feel the coldness of winter too.

Okay, you are convincing me that the technique you are using (the name of which escapes me at the moment!) really can work. That is a very interesting picture.

Thanks Pete. I think you're right. Perhaps the slope of the hillside and the opposite lean of the tree make the "flow" compelling.

Thanks Rob. For me the "technique" works best in monochrome, and when skies are clear. (And with the sun behind you you can get that very dark sky.)
