the first one, my eyes have trouble working out what they are supposed to be looking at, as theres just so much texture on the screen.

Damn fine doors they are too! I agree with David though but it works really well cropped off just above the lintel. What do you think?

I thought the first one was ok, but in light of what has been said I have gone back today( plus side is it wasn't raining this time and I was able to compose it a little better. I shall post the results

It looks a little blurred to me like when you have two blended layers that don't align, or is it intentional?

Try adding some heavy grain and see what that does for it.
