Been working in the studio the last couple of days... I guessed you might find balustrade fittings (yesterdays job) a little boring ... Todays project was a little more interesting!

Shot with two lights, the first straight on and 45 degrees up from about 2m away. It was a slightly diffused light with a slit of light coming through a set of barn doors to light the logos and the depth of the player. Then a second which was way off about 3 m to the right and only just above the player in hight. This second light had a snoot and was to light the width of the player.
The surface it's on is brushed aluminium effect material.
Shot with the D800 and 16-35mm at 35mm

Quite interested to hear your thoughts @Nathan Wright

I like a wide angle lenses for this sort of thing, gives a bit of drama I think! I have skewed the perspective a little to enhance the effect too ...

It will be in hifi+ next month/month after, so I'm hoping they will use these pictures rather than shoot their own... I have my fingers crossed for a cover, but I think that might be a long shot!

I'm glad you like it, your pictures inspired me to try a bit harder with mine!

The first is superb, but the second does nothing for me, Hamish. Love the drama of the first, though it is not over the top. Catches the attention. The second...meh.

I prefer the first too ... It's a more interesting thing I photograph, with much more interesting methods. The second needed to look like the first, but because they are very different in the way they look and the materials they are made from, this was the best balance I could find

Go Hamish! Looking dramatic certainly - fingers crossed for the mag

Well, that looks like it could be the quintessential image for advertising this product...
