I was just passing through Avebury on the way to Wales. Stopped for an hour to stretch my legs & had time to take a few photos

Richard, love the use of depth of field in #2/3 - and especially like #3 as the color version with the stones contrasted against the old thatched building

Also loving the sheep against the stone, great tonality in the B&W - was he scratching his leg? :)

I think that sheep is snorting the lichens!;) Great shot. Also, like Chris said, the DOF in 2 and 3 (and in my opinion also 1) is cool.

I couldn't decide between b/w or colour on #2/3 which is why I have posted both.
The lamb spent ages rubbing himself against the stone...probably soaking up some of the cosmic force ;-) gave me good time to compose the shot

It is the last one for me with the sheep/lamb in it's funny pose. Looks like it sneaked around the back of the stone for a few lines of coke.

Haha....Yes...Just dusting his nose off

He even looks slightly ashamed of him self ... Must have not kicked in yet ... Ha!

On a slighty more serious note...Realy nice b&w toning to those shots :)

Super shots of the stones there Richard and using a narrow depth of field really works especially with the pub shot. And I see what you mean about the B&W vs colour version. I think that in isolation I'd probably prefer the colour on for the additional contrast between the tones of the stone and the building / foliage. But, in sequence with the others, the B&W works very well. Nice any way.
