Quite atmospheric Alastair but I find the foreground just a bit too dark relative to the sky. I like the shadow though.

I like the composition very much. At first I thought the cattle grid was a shadow thrown by the gate, which was intriguing because it couldn't have been. I like the contrasting angles between the cattle gird and the actual cast shadow of the gate too, and the curve of the fence into the distance. Like Pete I would like to see the foreground lightened just a bit (but not too much because it suits being low key) and perhaps a touch more contrast added to bring out the wonderful patterns and textures you caught?
