Thanks, Julian. I wasn't quite so rested...something made me return to it. Is this version better? I'm too close to tell...I added some sharpening, a square format, and a little darkening...

I keep going back and forth between them. I like the restfulness of the first, but the detail in the green leaves in the second looks so beautiful. Reminds me of Dutch painting. Needs a wee beastie crawling around... I'm off to bed, and will look at them with fresh eyes tomorrow.

The second is very much more about the colours and textures whereas, for me, the first is more complete and the composition feels stronger. Agree about the Dutch still life though. Nice.

Well for me they are very different, each have their own appeal. The more intense highlight in the second I saw as a possibility when seeing the first. Always tells if worked on late at night, to see if it hold up in the morning.

Oh this is stunning Rob and I must say that I prefer the first. The OOF area on the right hand side gives a peaceful area to balance the colour and fluffiness of the other side

Well, thankfully it doesn't have to be one or the other. I've also noticed the sharpness of the second looks very different on different devices - phones, iPods, through 500px or on here.
