Bell Du Jour

Rob MacKillop

I went out with the idea to photograph more of the scratches I'd given examples of before, but found myself getting distracted by the doorbells. The old bells have been ripped out, and new ones installed, but with little sensitivity at all. Quite shocking, in some respects. I know, I know, there are much more shocking things going on in the world...but, still, these are BIG apartments I could never dream of owning, yet this is how they are treated. So, a little sadness pervades the whole...

There is a grand and subtle relationship and difference between all the images. Would love to see them all side by side rather than having to scroll up and down to enjoy them. Great little collection though.
Love the title 'Press Gang' on one of the images.

Cheers, Brian. Why an electronic buzz is better than a bell chime is beyond me. And intercoms mean you don't have to open the door. Apparently this is progress.

Great idea Rob, love it. I have embraced technology and don't have a bell and will soon glue the letter box shut. If you want me to open the door post a message on FB or Twitter. Apparently I can be really sociable by ignoring everyone around me and only communicating via a computer.

Sadness comes in all packages and you have really made me and others aware of it in a very nice way here. As well as Paul has revealed:D
