Beneath the monsters

Dan Cattermole

Dan Down - The Steampunk Womble
Some more of my Urban day out, this time with XP2 loaded in the Oly.
These are straight from the negative with nothing altered. I must say, I absolutely LOVE the tones with this film.
I'm also delighted on how these shots have turned out.

Bit of a strange tone that's been developed on this shot, almost HDR like. But I can live with that.

It's great how many completely different styles of shot came out of this one short visit to that location.

Nice Dan especially the first. I like the slight tint to them. I think this is from the actual plastic of the film. My scanner automatically removes the tint which is a shame as it looks quite good sometimes.

Thanks Paul, I did try it B&W.... But as you said, looks good sometimes.

Thanks Andy, Certainly right about the styles. I couldn't be anymore glad that I took film with me..... Like a blessing in disguise.

Nice one Dan!
I scan mine directly to mono so I don't see this effect in mine ... It does work in these shots though eh!?
Can I see the first in black and white? Just humor me ;)

It doesn't look to bad either I guess.

Now that I've had a good look at it, I think I do like it more now.

Haha, you knows it!

it just looks right, the colours in the other are interesting, don't add value for me. The black and white has more impact for me.
It really plays on the positive traits of the film too, the texture of whatever he is walking through works wonderfully with the way xp2 looks. Like the floor in my shot of detroits.

Its a really nice image Dan, the lines seem to want to lead you away from the partially hidden chap, but you are actually drawn to him ... Maybe by the direction the main subject is walking in

Dan - that first shot is just a stunner - looks like you, the Oly, and film have bonded :)

Just seen the B&W version - epic!
