Critique Welcomed Book Illustration?

Trying to salvage something from an OOF shot. I like the positioning and movement, and the girl in the centre looking at me. I'm thinking it could be used as a book cover, or something illustrative/creative?

X100 and Nik Colour Effex...

Hmmmm... not quite working for me I'm afraid. If the floor was in focus and the blur was simply motion blur - then it would work for me.

Then it would be a real photograph :) That is actually what I was trying for, but screwed up. This has been an exercise in trying to recover Something from a mistake. Not to worry...

Dave,...the place Rob was shooting from was high up and therefore shaking violently to and fro. This is why everything blurred during the earthquake! ;) (C'mon, Dave,...work with us on this...;))

I like it Rob. The last version is probably the most effective although I think the first still has potential. It looks like you have really ramped up the sharpening though and created a few halos. I think I'd be tempted to work with an un-sharpened version though (or am I wrong with my guess). Maybe add grain and reduce saturation (possibly even play around with using only one or two colour channels).

A bold statement here............

IMO there is a common misconception that all photographs have to be in sharp focus or parts of, have to be, for them to be any good. If an effect is what is wanted, then if that effect is achieved, then the photo is a success, if an effect that pleases is gained through experimentation and accidental process then that too is good, I have had criticism from some people in the past (not on here) for trying something a little different that they did not particularly like just because it didn't conform to the rules.

Art photography is exactly that, Art, and should be created as such.

I think Rob, it is a brave move to attempt recovery of what is a lost image and see where it takes you, experimentation is a great way to learn and develop new skills and create something new and exciting.

And I like the last one though I would drop the noise a tad but that's only my personal taste.....:)

Keep Playing...:)

Dave :D

Not necessarily, the reduction in noise for me would just reduce the distraction of the grain and not sharpen any part for I'm guessing that there aren't any parts sharp enough for it to matter. :)

:):)

Well, all the comments are bringing smiles to my face, so don't worry at all about what you are saying, pro or contra. It's all good. I'll defend to the death my right to experiment, even if the whole world thinks I'm nuts ;) As a musician, some of the best notes I've ever played or heard have been 'mistakes' or experiments, just to see what would happen.

Funny it triggered more comments than my ''Typewriter'' image posted at the same time, which was as straight a shot as I could take.

:)
