Lovely shot, Pete. The colors are wonderful in this one.

(But, awkwardly, it conjures in my mind images of emaciated people behind fences.)

Once those blanket flowers set seed they will complete their escape!

I do like your work Pete, you can make such simplistic scenarios turn into to something interesting.

lovely colors, and use of shallow DOF to highlight the subject(s)

Gorgeous colours so well processed but I find my eye slides away to the right and falls out of the frame. I wonder if a square crop losing the right edge would help?

Thanks Mike. True (and I'm not one known to be shy of a square crop ;) ), but I actually wanted the out of focus areas behind the fencing to be a main part of the image rather than just the flowers. I certainly find my eye moving away from the sharp flowers, but not out of the frame but into the out of focus areas although maybe the right hand edge could do with being the tiniest bit darker. In some ways it is not quite disturbing enough for me but there will be other opportunities. :)

Pete, I've been throwing myself in and out of this image since you posted it, been trying to put a link to it and at last I've found it...years back I painted an image of barbed wire with bleeding hands grasping at the wire in an attempt to get out, that was back in 75 shortly after a trip to Berlin, a then divided and very different one to that of now, as I'm sure you know, the painting now long gone but the image in my memory is still very much there and this really does bring it back to life for me..Thanks for provoking old memories and a great composition of what could easily be passed by.
