Bright, hot, hazy August summer afternoon -- What to shoot?

How about a low lake in a wildlife refuge under "bad" light, then turn it almost into winter? At least that's the vibe I get now.

I'm not usually a fan of ultra-wide strip panoramas beyond the intrinsic fascination with detail. But it kinda seems to work here. This is "Little Lake", which I shot a couple of years ago when the water was even lower. That shot was in color, but still fairly graphical. Maybe this subject matter responds well to such treatment? It's far from a good B&W conversion as I'm not a "B&W guy", but I was trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear ... or was that, "pull a rabbit from a hat"?
