Canberra, Australia - Enlighten

Every March Canberra has the Enlighten Show. Four to five promenent buildings are lit up by giant projectors which produce a slide show of images that represent the particular building. There plenty of photographers with their tripods almost shoulder to shoulder at one of the buildings.

Below is the National Science & Technology Centre. CC welcome.

Very nice shot Reg. That must be quite a sight. It might have been good to have had a bit more space around the building but obviously I don't know what is out of frame and getting the figure over the bigger panel of the Oxygen would have been a bonus. Having said that I still like it as it is. Just trying t work out the way they've organised the elements - or does it change?

Hi Peter, this is another view at 18mm. Here, the has changed to another scene.

And another of the Old Parliament House.

The 2 black objects in the foreground are the projection units.

I think I like that shot even more Reg - I like the extra space adn I think it adds scale to the image. I love the way the sculpture is silhouetted against the red of the building and the way he appears to be doffing his cap to the spectacle. The Parliament house is effective too isn't. I miss the dark sky though and it looks like it has a very slight slope (or is that at the angle?).

Thanks Pete for your comment. I am on a learning curve with the DSLR. Yes, the parl House has a very slight slope. At the bottom it is slight however at the top it appears more so. I did try and straighten using the bottom as the guide - perhaps I should have taken it from the top.

I have straightened the image however, there is some distortion because the bottom is wonky and the top is straight. For some reason a thumbnail view now appears which is the uncorrected version. For minor and quick PP I use Fastone.

Peter, FastStone is a simple free software available on the 'net. I generally view my takes in it and do minor adjustments. If I need to go a little further I use PhotoPlus x4. Probably not as good as the Adobe products but suits my budget.

Reg - what a fantastic idea, and makes for great subjects as well.

I really like the first with the periodic table graphics - brilliant
