Critique Welcomed Candid Shots In A Museum

I snapped these at the Palm Springs Museum of Art. There was an architectural photography exhibit and so SWMBO and I went along to have a look. Climbing the stairs I glanced up and saw a seated couple, their backs on view. I thought, that's interesting so I hurried up (lest they move) and snapped a fotie with the F1. That's the first fotie below.

As we alighted upon the landing where they were seated I was delighted to find they hadn't yet moved, and I began to prowl around them, Ninja-like, so that I could position myself for another fotie of them without them being aware.

A moment or two of apparently (to them) casual browsing by me gave me the opportunity to cast them a not-unusual human being-style sideways glance and I thought, "this old pair is really focused on the art!" They had barely budged.

Emboldened by their focus elsewhere I gazed straight at them for a moment. Then I took my time to compose and snap fotie #2.

Of course, they never did budge, and never will until a pair of bulky chaps carts them away and puts them in a box. SWMBO and I shared a laugh at my unnecessary skulduggery. :)

Canon F1 and Kodak Ektar 100.

Yashica 635 and Kodak Ektar 100

Classic! :D

Very nice shot Brian - the light filtering in from behind and the narrow DOF with MF really work well

I was trying to work out how you'd managed to be stealthy with the 635! :D :D

Thanks, Chris.

Yes, there is nothing subtle about lining up a shot with a TLR. Only saving grace is that often people don't perceive you to be a photographic threat due to the typical TLR posture. Nothing subtle about the F1 either I'm afraid. It has a tremendous mirror slap.

Good one, Brian. Made me laugh. Reminds me of an American artist's work which involved placing various 'statues' around Edinburgh during the festival. They were life-sized models of American tourists - badly dressed, overweight, cameras around their neck, looking up at buildings, etc. Some of them caught me out...quite amusing. Sorry I can't recall the artist's name.

Thanks, Rob! Glad I gave you a laugh. :)

I wonder if the Edinburgh American artist is the same person who did the Palm Springs art? Wouldn't that be a coincidence!
