Blimey, that really is film-like isn't.

Might just have a shufty at Amazon...
Clifton cameras do the older Foveon dp1x for a give away £200 new. But that sensor is not much larger than the m4/3, a 1.84 crop, the newer more expensive Merrill have a 1.5 crop sensor as the Nikon APS-c .

They are £499 at WEX including £150 cash-back from Sigma. You might be eligible for that too.
Yes £499 after cash back. That is what I did but locally, they matched the offer. The Clifton Sigma DP1x are different camera sensors to the Merrills but @ £200 quite tempting. Must save up and wait for next year maybe.I would like the
DP2 Merrill and the DP1. Thinking of trading in my 400mm f5.6. Must enquire my local shop and see what deal he can put together. I trade a bit of gear there or swap as it were. Helps. Also thinking of trading the 5D MK2 as well, however much enjoyment I've had, I cannot carry it all around now with all the lenses. I have the OM-D for quick street type pics and the such, for that it is actually better than the canon.

Thanks Chris, yes the sun was just to the right. The Foveon sensor does not cope with sun hitting the lens. In fact it's reproduction is so similar to film and reminds me in those
situations of using the Zorki when get blown out scattered colours. Crazy that some makers do not supply hoods with cameras, I've not got one as yet but had an old rubber generic
version, far to short but helped slightly.

Here's an, into the sun pic, Some qualities I like but not for DPR consumption, you'd get hung drawn and chopped into little bits.

My Olympus and canon I could have shot this easily without the flare like this. I do not think it is lens depended either.
Who needs art filters .
I just saw this pic for the first time and I love it, Julian!

Yet to take any pictures but they are charged up and ready to go!
Nice one Pete. Hope it works out ok. It is what maybe seen as a bit unique as far as digital sensors go. Far different from the Bayer sensor. The software is very slow as well.
I have the best results to date from getting the WB as correct as possible in the raw converter, using along side that the colour balance whell and colour mode, such as Nutrual, standard, vivid, etc.
Also if looking for the most clarity, in the Raw processer , I set the three noise reductions to their lowest setting rather thna the default setting. That make a big difference.
The noise settings can be set for all the images in a folder from the menus .
Using the B+W converter it is easy using the colour wheel to use each of the red green or blue channels on their own, or a mix.

Have fun,be keen to see what you think.
