During a riverside walk last week we passed some old gravel pits that have now been transformed into lakes.
These chaps were fishing there for carp, hence the atrocious pun in the title. When I commented on the amount of gear they had with them the reply was, "Oh, you should see what we bring when we're here all day." They'd probably snatched a couple of hours out of the day to relax and it didn't really matter whether they caught anything or not.

Which river?

The river Darent in north west Kent here in the UK. Also historically known as the Dart or Darenth. It flows into Thames just north of Dartford, hence that town's name: the ford on the river Dart.

A lazy river or creek seems so comforting and relaxing. I wish I had one nearby. Most/all of the rivers in my area are concreted up for flood control. Fortunately, the various government jurisdictions are beginning to de-concrete the waterways out here to reflect an environment Mother Nature had initially intended.
