I don't usually take photos of people. This is Catherine. She is a student in the photography class I am taking. This was taken during our photo field trip. She is an amazing photographer and one of the nicest/funniest people I've ever met. I've never met her parents but they must be very proud of her.

Very well executed Steve, the tones are just lovely. A very real feel to it. Is this a fuji shot?

Dan- That is with that new Fuji 23 mm lens (or I guess 35mm equivalent) and the Fuji X Pro. Thanks for the compliment. She really is an amazing young woman. She is hilarious. She takes these amazing photos with a beat up old K1000 and 28mm M series lens. It's really interesting because she uses the 28mm really close. Almost always at it's minimum focus distance which I think is around 1.5 feet.

Nice shot, Steve. I like the almost smile on her face, giving the impression she has a sense of humour.

Thanks Rob. She is a character. Her and her boyfriend did this shoot with me in a Laundromat as sort of models. They had me rolling on the floor laughing so much I could barely concentrate. She wore these Batman pants. They really worked well with the photos.

You did not seem lost in this one Steve, which you did very well. Continue doing them with the 23 and involve some environment and you'll be fine. Good luck to you.

What a super portrait. The pose is natural and I especially like the way she is looking out of the frame. As Brian notes, the stance is interesting as well. The exposure etc is spot-on I think and I like the overall feel and tones. I'm looking forward even more to the launderette series now. Maybe such story-line environmental portraits are the way forward. Maybe you and Catherine can swap ideas and alternate as each others' models?
