Neither, but that's neither here nor there. It's the shot that counts and this is another one of your excellent b&w photos.
A bog is a wetland, so I suppose you would be 'in' a bog. Not sure what the land in this photo would be called. Awful lot of rocks for a pasture, but I guess it could be called that. Might be a moor.

"In" sounds for me as if only the heads of the cows are visible, whereas the rest is sinking already...

In or on a bog. At the bog would mean you were on the outer edge of the bog and not yet in it. Moor, on the other hand, is either 'on a moor' or 'on the moor'. Now, a pasture might be like a moor, but the cattle are 'in the pasture' or 'in pasture'. Don'cha just luv English?

This definitely would't count as pasture though. In ecological terms it is a blanket bog, with a vegetation of heather and peat mosses. It's shallow though, with many rocky outcrops: western hyper-atlantic Ireland..... But I think a more general word for this type of vegetation/landscape would be moor indeed.
So, to be short: Cattle in pasture on a moor from (or of?) the blanket bog type. Although that is not very suiting as a title for a photo, is it?

Well, at least you didn't catch them on the bog! (I suspect that will mean nothing to you - I'll let someone from the UK explain!).
Anyway, back to the cattle on the moor! A gorgeous shot and I love those clouds and, in fact, the lighting in general. Superb.
