Cheshire Ring

One pastime I have enjoyed for many years, as and when opportunity presents, is navigating the Cut in a narrowboat. Back in 2005 we went as a family round the Cheshire Ring, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Towards the end of the holiday we took our boat down the Anderton Boat-lift onto the River Weaver for a couple of days. Quite an experience navigating the flow of a sizeable river. What we hadn't realised at the time (and much to the boat owner's consternation when we returned the boat) was that the river was in flood and potentially quite dangerous for a narrowboat. Still, all good fun and we obviously lived to tell the tale..
Here are a couple of night-views from then. Canon 350D, Tokina 19-35mm f3.5-4.5.
(Btw, there may be one or two more canal-oriented pics to come in due course, if folks don't mind)

Thank, Pete. The boat in the pictures (our rental for the fortnight) would have almost certainly been purpose-built for leisure rather than commercial/industrial purposes.

A few more more from The 'Ring, mostly abstracts taken whilst 'on the move', though never fast enough or near enough to anything to be too risky.
I’ve also corrected the details regarding my kit at the time. These were all taken using my 19-35mm Tokina lens that was the first EF lens I ever bought, for a good price off the ‘Bay. This little lens suffered a bad fall a few years back😱😵‍💫 Maybe more on this in another post😊

Great images Ralph. The one of the stone bridge is great and reminds me of a canal bridge near here, where the tow-path switches sides of the canal and it allows the horses to cross without breaking stride. Fantastic engineering.

A truly beautiful set of pictures. I like them all; the b&w shot of the tunnel mouth is fascinating, the curves of the path remind me of a snail's shell.
