Cleaning a Konica Big mini lens ...

You may or may not have heard of this little gem of a camera, I've not shot with it yet, but it's reputation is very good... Anyway, I picked one up for £5 today, it was a bit dirty so I gave it a little bit of a clean.

have a looksee here Cleaning the dust out of a Konica Big Mini Lens

im genuinely chuffed to have found one of these, it is supposed to be at very least on a par with the yashica T5, but somewhat more of a sleeper ... It's now firmly in the queue for shooting with!

Top work Hamish - I've yet to take a screwdriver to a camera, so props for doing it.

Looking forward to seeing some shots from it.

My year of film project has been somewhat delayed by family dramas - so I'll need to get back on track after June is done.

I'm going to attempt to clean up and sort the sticky apertures of 2 Konica S2's I picked up cheap tomorrow, I've heard this is a common problem with them, something to do with whale oil? Got some free time in between freelance projects, so I plan sorting out a load of Rangefinders I've acquired over the past 6 months or so, sticky seals and whale oil, something smells a bit fishy to me...

Whale I be dammed! :D

I'll get my coat - or should that be oilskin.... ;)

Fair play H,
Certainly is the best thing to do with a cheap camera if it has a few issues, take the bloody thing apart and study it :)
As well as sorting the problem out of course. Lol

I was wondering how that was going ... Family eh, they always get in the way of your home life don't they ...?

you will have to let me know I you get anywhere toward fixing these cameras ... If you end up over stocked with working ones, do let me know! :)

I wasn't expecting it to be so simple ... Very pleased that it was though! £30ish these go for on eBay, so a bit of tinkering and I could be in profit ... I'm not selling it yet though

I too have this in my list of to gets, hope it meets up with the expectation, be interested to see what your thoughts are on this.

There is a little bit of a queue Ben, but ill let you know when Ive got something to say on it.
Hows life treating you anyway, we are well over due a meet up!

Life is good, Ali and Jacob are well, Jacob just start crawling so things are only getting busier. We are definitely due a meet up, Ali mentioned you might be popping down our way soon, and we will have to get ourselves up to Worcester soon.
